Last week was really busy! We had a 'Let's Get Cooking' week at school. We worked in our Family Groups and all had two oportunities to cook a variety of tasty treats. At the beginning of the week, we made pasta salads and rice salads, alongside preparing a variety of vegetable sticks, which we ate at lunchtime . On Thursday, Mr Tucker gave us a taste of Spain and helped us to make a delicious Paella. We all had a taster dish of this after lunch.
On Friday, it was our annual summer fair, hosted by the PTA. We made various goodies to sell on our own cake stall. We made flapjacks, cheesecakes, muffins, fairy cakes and cookies. Our stall was very popular and we raised over £100!!
Mrs Dunn, Mrs Strickland helped us with our cooking. We learn about safety in the kitchen when cooking, how to cut and chop things safely, how to use lots of different utensils, measure out ingredients and how to wash and dry dishes and clean up after ourselves. We always try our food and often find that food we have cooked for ourselves tastes delicious! Some of us even discover that things we don't like taste really good!!
We hope to have another cooking week soon so look out for posters around the village that tell you when and where to be to sample our tasty treats.
