Farmwise Trip

On Tuesday, KS2 children had the opportunity to travel to West Point near Exeter for the long-awaited 'Farmwise' event.

There was lots to see and learn about in what was a packed day with over 1500 students attending.

Mrs Kennard let me know that the people running one stand approached her after some of the children from Class Four had been with them for a while. Mrs Kennard was informed that those children asked the most insightful questions out of anyone there: great to hear, Class Fourers!

On Tuesday we went to Farmwise Devon in Exeter, to learn about where our food comes from. My favourite area was the pig area which included lots of different fun activities. I learnt that pigs are pregnant for 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days. We got to look in a pig pen and meet a mummy pig and her piglets. They were very cute, they were also quite big for only a week old! We also got to try banana bread that had pork in it, the class thought it was tasty. In this area, we also got to touch the organs, I held a tongue, liver, brain and lungs. They felt like grimy! My other favourite part was holding real life baby chicks; they were so cute!! I really enjoyed the trip and would love to go back next year!
