School Closure Update

As the Prime Minister has announced the closure of all schools to all but keyworker children, I write to you to outline our plans.

The provision is to support keyworkers who have no other option but to use us and we will try and keep a skeleton staff in all schools. I'm hoping to distribute as many staff as possible to online learning to help support you all. We are very happy to be as flexible as possible so if you only need us for an hour, that's absolutely fine and we will be totally adaptive to support you. It will help us hugely if you only use the provision you need.

Please let your school office know of your childcare needs so we can staff as appropriately. I appreciate this is not possible for tomorrow morning! A packed lunch please tomorrow and school uniform as usual, please.

Tomorrow staff will not be as quick to support with home learning as we do not know how many of you will attend. There will be online learning tomorrow but it will probably not be from 9am as we sort out our in-school provision when we know numbers. Once we have a good idea of the capacity needed in school, we will have a super slick online learning provision for the length of the lockdown.

I want you to know that we will do all we can to support those who need to use the school site and those home-educating. We are, of course, saddened to not welcome all your children back as intended but please rest assured that we will be very present and available to help support you all through this next period of time.

Welcome to High Bickington C of E Academy

High Bickington Academy is a vibrant and innovative small school situated in the lovely countryside of North Devon. As part of the TEAM Multi-academy Trust, the children benefit from an extensive range of curriculum opportunities not always available to a school of this size. Children  take part in a range of residential trips and enjoy visiting our partner schools for a variety of activities. Our small classes ensure that children receive learning that is personalised, stimulating and enjoyable. Our school has an ethos where children's voices are heard and they are encouraged to develop important personal skills that develop their independence and ability to work with others. Our aim is for every child to achieve their very best and enjoy their time at High Bickington C of E Academy.

Mission Statement

Life, Love and Learning to the Full

Jesus said 'I have come that they may have life in all its fullness.' (John 10:10)

We are a church school, grounded in a belief in God who created and loves us.

We aim to inspire and enable all children to become independent, resilient and joyful lifelong learners, within a caring and encouraging Christian environment.

We will ensure that every child’s spiritual, intellectual, creative, emotional and physical needs are met.

As part of the rich and varied experiences we offer our children, each will be given opportunities to engage with and contribute to the church, local and world communities.

School Christian Values

At High Bickington CofE Primary Academy, we hold a daily act of Christian worship: we gather to celebrate and learn together. Our collective worship themes are often linked to our school’s core Christian Values of:

Love ~ Respect ~ Perseverance ~ Truthfulness

Forgiveness ~ Friendship
