Coastal Explorers - Class 2

We have had a really exciting week in Class Two!

On Monday we had a special visit from the RNLI. They spent the afternoon with us, talking us to about the importance of the RNLI jobs. We learnt about how to stay safe near the water and learnt about the different flags and signs which we may find on the beach. We also looked at some pictures to spot the dangers on the beach and how they can be avoided.

On Wednesday we went on our first school trip of the year to Westward Ho! We were lucky enough to have dry weather and spent the first part of our day with Ranger Rose who showed us some of the human and physical features of the coast town. We found out about the history and looked at some old photos from the Victorian times. We were even lucky enough to see some enormous diggers working on the beach to rebuild the sea defences. This hasn't happened for over 40 years, so we were very privileged to be able to watch! After our tour, we then made our way to the visitor centre where we enjoyed our packed lunch. After lunch we split into two groups and took part in a drawing activity and got chance to look around the learning centre. We had a great day!
