Dear Parents and Carers,
Exciting news!
I am able to share with you the exciting news that Miss Trofa is expecting her first child in the autumn. Fran intends to work up until mid-way through the second half of the Autumn Term and we will be seeking to appoint an excellent Y3/4 teacher from that point for the duration of her maternity leave. I will, of course, keep you posted on the appointment process when we get there.
Sports Stars
It was lovely to hear about the exploits of some of the children in Class 3 this week who have been doing amazing things in the sporting arena. Congratulations to Mason, Zoe, Sonny and Amelia who all won awards for fantastic football and to Lily for incredible gymnastics. In Class Four, Evelyn has been tearing it up on the rugby field! In a recent tournament she was part of a team that won nine and drew one of their games. What a tremendous effort from all of you - showing off your skills in your chosen sports. If your child has achieved something amazing out of school, we would love to hear about it and share with the rest of the school community.
Swimming
Class Two were excellent in their first swimming session last week and all seemed to really enjoy it. We know we are a bit tight for time in terms of getting back for the end of the school day. To make this slightly slicker from now on, Class Two children should be picked up from the new site on Tuesday afternoons please. Children will take bookbags and other school bags to leave at the new site before they get on the coach - they will be able to collect these and go as soon as the coach returns. Children on the school bus will be collected from the new site on Tuesdays.
Collective Worship
Our Theme this week has been about being quiet and calm when things around us are stormy and tempestuous. We heard the story of how Jesus calmed the Sea of Galilea and in so doing calmed his disciples too. We understand that there may be times in our lives where the journey is a bumpy one and we go through 'hard times'. Being peaceful and calm can be difficult and anxiety may take over. It is important to remember that none of us are alone and that we can often be calmed by the support of others - just as the disciples were calmed by Jesus in the story. Our prayer was: Dear God, Help me to be calm enough to hear that you don't need all of my busyness and words. Quieten me with your love, God who is near. Amen
Exmoor Challenge
Go well the High Bick team! Esmay, Evelyn, Freddie R and Daniel will be setting off at 9:56am and will be out on the moor for over 5 hours. We wish you well and have every confidence in you all.
Have a lovely weekend,
Rob Norton
